How VR scenes spend their time: chapter markers from 7,492 scenes

I pulled chapter markers for 7,492 VR scenes. Five parts take up 60% of the time, and the build-up before the first position hasn't changed since 2020.

VR scenes on pornboxd that are also sold on SexLikeReal now get a scene breakdown. It's a bar on the scene page that shows when each part starts and how long it runs. Tag pages got something new too. A "Most time on [tag]" row ranks scenes by how many minutes they spend on that one thing.

To build it I pulled chapter markers for 7,492 scenes from 26 studios. That's about 4,300 hours of VR. Once all of it sat in one table, a few questions were too easy not to ask.

Where the time goes

Five parts take up 60% of all the marked time on the site. Blowjobs alone are one minute in every six.

Part Share of marked time Scenes with it
Blow Job 17.1% 4,830
Missionary 12.4% 3,586
Cowgirl 11.7% 3,720
Doggy Style 10.1% 3,763
Reverse Cowgirl 8.6% 3,540
Close Up 5.2% 2,958
Striptease 4.1% 996
Teasing 3.9% 1,766

Striptease looks big on paper, 9.4 minutes on average, but that's mostly strip videos where stripping is the whole scene. In scenes with sex, only 2% have a striptease, and it runs under 5 minutes. If stripping is your thing, the Striptease tag page ranks scenes by how long they spend on it.

The average scene has 9 parts, so something new starts about every 4 minutes. SLR Originals go furthest, with 15 parts in a typical scene.

How scenes open and close

I looked at the first and last named part of every scene that has at least three parts.

Opens with Scenes Closes with Scenes
Blow Job 1,815 Cumshot 1,755
Teasing 1,346 Cum In Mouth 1,036
Masturbation 438 Creampie 763
Hand Job 376 Facials 363
Close Up 271 Masturbation 280

The endings won't shock anyone. The openings were more interesting to me. A blowjob is the most common first part, with teasing second. Not one position makes the top eight openers. VR studios clearly like to start up close and slow before anyone gets on the bed.

How long the build-up runs

The moment the first position starts (cowgirl, missionary, doggy and so on) is a good way to measure how long a scene builds up. In the 4,780 scenes that get to one, it starts at a median of 12.7 minutes, about 29% of the way in. That has barely moved since 2020. Every release year lands between 12 and 14 minutes.

Here are the four quickest and the four slowest studios with at least 100 of these scenes, ranked by how much of the scene comes before the first position.

Studio First position at (median) Share of the scene Typical scene length
TadPoleXXXStudio 2.8 min 17% 16 min
FuckPassVR 10.0 min 21% 47 min
VRHush 9.6 min 23% 44 min
SLR Originals 16.1 min 27% 60 min
VRDome 15.4 min 39% 40 min
Vrixxens 14.7 min 40% 35 min
Purity VR 11.9 min 43% 29 min
WankItNowVR 24.8 min 64% 41 min

TadPoleXXXStudio gets there in under three minutes, but their scenes are short. SLR Originals take 16 minutes, which sounds slow until you see their scenes run an hour. WankItNowVR is mostly solo scenes, and in the ones that do get to sex, almost two thirds of the scene is build-up.

Two studios sped up a lot. FuckPassVR scenes from 2021 and 2022 took 15.6 minutes to reach the first position. In 2025 and 2026 it's 8.9. VRHush went from 16.5 to 8.1. Both also made their scenes shorter.

An earlier version of this section ranked studios by when the second part starts. That was a bad yardstick. Newer scenes on SLR have more markers, and most now open with a short teasing part that older scenes almost never had. So the second part starts earlier on new scenes even when nothing else changed. The first position doesn't have that problem.

How this works

The markers come from SexLikeReal, where a lot of studios also sell their scenes. SLR adds them on their side. I don't. I match each SLR scene to the same scene on pornboxd. A part runs from its marker to the next one, and the last part runs to the end of SLR's copy.

Some studios put a different cut on SLR than on their own site, so a few markers may not line up with the version you watch somewhere else. When the titles show it's a different version, I skip the scene. That has happened a few dozen times so far. Placeholder parts named things like "#3" don't count toward any tag. Of all the marked time, 98% lines up with a tag on the site.

The bar shows on 5,686 scene pages, the ones with at least three named parts. The "Most time" row is live on more than 70 tag pages. New scenes pick up their markers twice a day, so these numbers will keep moving.

If you want to try it, open the Teasing or Blow Job tag page and scroll down to Most time. Then pick a scene and drag along the bar.
